Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is used to help the body recover from injury and also to help prevent further injury.  Massage helps relieve pain and restore function to tight or injured muscles or joints. Remedial massage is the process of identifying the original biomechanical dysfunction of muscles, tendons and joints, and then using a wide range of specialised massage techniques to assist the body to heal itself. It targets the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms and massage stimulates the blood supply which allows toxins in the body to be removed. A remedial massage treatment can also calm the peripheral nervous system which eases pain and discomfort, and as well, it can tone and relax the muscles to help improve joint mobility. In this way, remedial massage can support and speed up the body's own repair mechanism.

Relaxation Massage
Swedish or Relaxation Massage is probably the most well known and widely requested massage. It involves a series of long strokes combined with kneading, friction, tapotement, percussion and rocking motions that apply pressure between the fascia, muscles and bones. The strokes follow the same direction as the
flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish Massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It also shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Other benefits include increased circulation without increased heart load, gentle stretching of muscles, ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation and soothing of the nervous system
Swedish Massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is recommended as part of a regular program for stress management.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage is used before, during and after athletic events to prepare athletes or sports enthusiasts for peak performance. It alleviates fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and prevents injuries. Sports Massage helps to alleviate the stress and tension that builds up in the body’s soft tissues during strenuous activities. It also
reduces heart rate and blood pressure and increases blood circulation and lymphatic flow. This is beneficial because every athlete uses their muscle groups in different ways. Sports Massage is helpful pre-event and post-event as well as for maintenance to enhance greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen the chances of injury and reduce recovery time.

Soft Tissue Therapy (STT)
STT is the assessment, treatment and management of soft tissue injury.  The pain and dysfunction caused by a soft tissue injury can be alleviated using a wide variety of techniques including PNF stretches, M.E.T. and kinesio taping.  The ultimate goal for the client is to reduce pain, increase mobility and the eventual return to normal functioning of the affected area.

Trigger Point Therapy
A trigger point is an area of hyperirritability within a taut band of skeletal muscle and/or associated fascia that when pressed, often causes pain to a referred or seemingly unrelated area in the body. Trigger points are manifested as small painful contraction knots in the muscles and Brent uses Trigger Point Therapy to address these extremely tender points and decrease the pain and dysfunction they cause.

Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage can be used as a therapy to ease some of the aches and pains caused by the pressures of pregnancy.
Back pain is one of the more common side effects of pregnancy and can continue throughout pregnancy and even afterwards.  Massage can help relieve back pain associated with muscular tension.

  • Prenatal massage helps relieve oedema or swelling by stimulating circulation throughout the body.
  • Leg massage can help reduce leg cramps and swelling.
  • Massage can be very beneficial for relieving anxiety during pregnancy.
  • Massage can help promote more restful sleep and help prevent pregnancy related insomnia.
  • Pregnancy massage may also relax your baby.
